Phoenix House Orange County, Inc. in Irvine, CA is seeking a Sobering Medical Assistant (AM Shift) for a full-time, on-site role. You will provide direct, non-clinical support to individuals accessing Sobering Center services and promote a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented environment.

The team collaboration spans clinical, recovery, case management, and community services. The role requires a valid Medical Assistant certificate, high school diploma, completion of a MA training program, and TB

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have completed a Medical Assistant training program.
• Must provide documentation of Medical Assistant training.
• Must obtain TB test clearance and update yearly.

Responsibilities

• Welcome clients and provide orientation to the Sobering Center in a respectful and professional manner.
• Establish positive, supportive relationships with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Provide non-clinical emotional and practical support to clients during their stay.
• Support clients in identifying next steps after their Sobering Center stay.
• Conduct and document client observations at least every 15 minutes, or more frequently when required.
• Observe and document the client’s presentation, responsiveness, behavior, location, and changes in condition.
• Immediately communicate significant changes to supervisor or clinical staff.
• Assist clients with access to showers, laundry, and program amenities.
• Assist with transportation or discharge arrangements as per policy.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques for challenging behaviors.
