Job summary

Phoenix House Orange County, Inc. in Irvine, CA is hiring a Sobering Center Recovery Specialist for the PM shift. This full-time, on-site role provides non-clinical support, ensures client safety, and connects individuals with recovery resources.

Reporting to the Facility Manager, you will document observations every 15 minutes, assist with daily needs, and work with a multidisciplinary team to promote a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be registered or certified as AOD Counselor (DHCS).
• Six months experience preferred in related field.
• Must maintain a valid credential during employment.
• TB test clearance required annually.

Responsibilities

• Welcome clients and provide orientation to the Sobering Center.
• Establish supportive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Provide non-clinical emotional and practical support.
• Assist with next steps after Sobering Center stay.
• Document client observations at least every 15 minutes.
• Record observations and changes in the documentation system.
• Report significant changes to supervisor or medical staff.
• Follow procedures for medical/behavioral emergencies.
• Assist with showers, laundry, and program amenities.
• Coordinate transportation or discharge arrangements as needed.
• Lead shift duties when assigned.
