Job summary

Phoenix House California is seeking a Sobering Center Recovery Specialist to provide direct, non-clinical support in Irvine. You will help clients with basic needs, promote safety and recovery-oriented practices in a trauma-informed environment.

You will document observations every 15 minutes, coordinate referrals, and work with a multidisciplinary team to connect clients to housing, medical care, and behavioral health services while maintaining professional boundaries and delivering respectful,

Qualifications

Must be registered or certified as an AOD Counselor by DHCS.
Six months of related field experience preferred.
Must maintain a valid credential during employment.
TB test clearance required and updated annually.

Responsibilities

Welcome clients and provide orientation to the Sobering Center in a respectful manner.
Provide non-clinical emotional and practical support during stay.
Document client observations at least every 15 minutes and report changes.
Assist with showers, laundry, and program amenities when available.
Facilitate connections to treatment, housing, medical care, and community resources.
Use de-escalation techniques and document incidents per policy.
Participate in shift handoffs and required staff trainings.
Lead duties for shift as assigned and support program operations.
