Job summary

The State of South Carolina’s Department of Social Services in Greenwood is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to support SNAP, TANF, ESAP and SCCAP programs. You will conduct interviews, determine eligibility, and issue benefits for residents in Economic Services.

Responsibilities include maintaining case records, handling alerts, and coordinating with the Benefit Integrity Unit. A High School Diploma with relevant program experience is required, with Associate Degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and relevant program experience.
• Associate Degree or higher may substitute for the required program experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides SNAP, TANF, ESAP and SCCAP services according to laws, regulations and agency policies.
• Performs quality interviews for SNAP/TANF applications and renewals (phone and in person).
• Processes applications/renewals, ESAP contacts, and annual recertifications; determines eligibility and issues benefits.
• Manages ABAWD caseloads; updates tracking systems and interprets programs for clients.
• Maintains case records, documents participation, and prepares required reports.
• Identifies overpayments and coordinates referrals to the Benefit Integrity Unit; participates in trainings.
