Job summary

Siemens Building Automation Internship Program in the San Francisco area (Fremont, CA) seeks a Building Automation Design Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. This 10-week, full-time internship rotates through multiple design teams focused on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure.

You will contribute to design documents, system layouts, and engineering analyses, while learning to apply AutoCAD and other building automation tools under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate enrolled at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
• Pursuing an Engineering-related degree such as Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, CAD or related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for the full 10-week program (May–July or June–August).
• Must be able to work on-site up to 3 days a week.
• No relocation or housing stipend provided.
• Candidate must be located within 50 miles of the Fremont, CA office.

Responsibilities

• Understand project requirements and design build engineering solutions for education facilities, data centers, hospitals, and labs.
• Prepare design documents including system layouts, electrical drawings, BOMs, and sequences of operations.
• Design building network architecture to support operator workstations.
• Analyze plans, contracts, and codes to determine requirements and risks.
• Design pressurization, chiller/boiler sequencing, and related controls.
• Prepare engineering re-estimates and coordinate with sales/management.
