Job summary

United Ag & Turf, a John Deere dealership, seeks a dependable Small Engine Tech in Texas. You will repair and maintain turf equipment, ATVs/UTVs, and related machinery, under direction from the Service Manager.

The role requires high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and comfort with Service Advisor and basic computing. You will work in a busy shop, following safety rules and reporting on time and materials used.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Driver's license required.
• Experience with Service Advisor and basic computer functions preferred.
• Ability to assemble machinery components and follow manufacturer instructions.
• Operate vehicles and equipment used in machinery pre-delivery and setup.
• Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, power-trans, air-conditioning and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and maintenance on small engine equipment.
• Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required for the position.
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.

Purpose

As small engine tech you will be required to perform repairs and maintenance on turf equipment, ATV/UTV’s and other small engine equipment. Will require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager.

Essential Functions

The following are essential functions of this position:

• Performs repairs and maintenance on small engine equipment.
• Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required for the position.

Physical Demands

This position requires minimal physical demands that are necessary to perform the essential functions of the position, including:

Talking and hearing. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Valid Driver’s license required.
• Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions.
• Ability to assemble machinery components and to follow manufacturer’s pre-delivery instructions.
• Ability to operate vehicles, tools and equipment used in machinery pre-delivery and set-up process.
• Fundamental level of knowledge of engines, hydraulics, power-trans, air-conditioning and electrical systems as they apply to machines marketed by United Ag & Turf.

Preferred Education or Experience

• Fork lift certification.
