Job summary

Rural King is seeking a skilled Mechanic I to diagnose, service, and repair customer and company-owned equipment in our in-store repair shop in Norwalk, OH. The role covers small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power tools, with emphasis on safety and customer service.

You will manage repair work orders, parts, warranty claims, and document work in our systems while maintaining quality standards and timely communication with customers.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing small engines and related equipment.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and service manuals.
• Ability to manage multiple repair work orders and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power equipment.
• Manage customer repair work orders from intake through completion, including documentation, parts ordering, repairs, and warranty claims.
• Perform preventative maintenance and intermediate-level service on customer and company-owned equipment.
• Use diagnostic software, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, schematics, and system diagrams to identify equipment issues and complete repairs.
• Complete warranty documentation and process claims according to manufacturer requirements.
• Order and manage special-order parts needed for repairs.
• Document work performed, repair progress, identified issues, parts used, and recommended next steps.
• Communicate repair recommendations, service updates, and maintenance information to customers.
• Assist with equipment sales and customer education when needed.
• Load and unload customer and company-owned equipment for repairs, service, and delivery.
