Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Mechanic I to oversee the small engine repair shop inside the store, including tractors where applicable. You will manage customer repair work orders, perform servicing and repairs, order parts, and handle warranty claims.

You will deliver exceptional customer service, enforce safety protocols, and maintain documentation. The role requires operating various tools and equipment, loading/unloading machines, and participating in cross-training and learning initiatives.

Qualifications

• Intermediate to advanced mechanical skills for small engines, diesel, and hydraulic systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Proficiency with store technology resources including CRM software, diagnostic programs, barcode scanning systems, and wireless handheld devices.
• Ability to work independently without frequent supervision.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service with timely, high-quality onsite repairs.
• Enforce equipment and tool safety protocols and proper usage.
• Oversee hazardous material handling, storage, and disposal as required.
• Complete warranty paperwork promptly per manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation of work and progress.
• Keep a safe, clean, organized shop environment.
• Manage special order parts for work orders as needed.
• Perform service tasks safely and per manufacturer specifications.
• Use computer systems to identify parts, troubleshoot, document repairs, and process claims.
• Assist in loading/unloading customer and company machines for repairs and deliveries.
• Engage in preventative maintenance and basic servicing of machines.
