Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Mechanic I to diagnose, service, and repair customer and company-owned equipment in our in-store repair shop. You’ll work on small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power equipment, handling repair work orders, parts, warranty claims, and customer service.

You’ll use diagnostic tools, multimeters, manuals, and schematics, document progress, communicate with customers, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• Intermediate to advanced mechanical skills with experience diagnosing and repairing small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, or related equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, and schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power equipment.
• Manage customer repair work orders from intake through completion, including documentation, parts ordering, repairs, and warranty claims.
• Perform preventative maintenance and intermediate-level service on customer and company-owned equipment.
• Use diagnostic software, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, schematics, and system diagrams to identify equipment issues and complete repairs.
• Complete warranty documentation and process claims according to manufacturer requirements.
• Order and manage special-order parts needed for repairs.
• Document work performed, repair progress, identified issues, parts used, and recommended next steps.
• Communicate repair recommendations, service updates, and maintenance information to customers.
