Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide essential support in the Intensive Care Unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia. This full-time role requires strong nursing skills in critical care, excellent communication abilities, and a valid license in Virginia.

The position offers a starting salary of $45,000, with opportunities for overtime, as well as a dedicated work schedule exceeding 40 hours weekly. Candidates must pass a criminal conviction check.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience in a veterinary clinical setting preferred.

Job Description

Provides technical support to clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the ICU section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Performs critical care nursing procedures in the Intensive Care Unit as directed by clinical faculty and instructs senior veterinary students in technical and manipulative skills relating to ICU/Critical Care. On Call for ICU Coverage and covers ICU shifts, including holidays.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed or licensed-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT)
• Experience in critical care nursing in a veterinary medical setting
• Ability to place intravenous catheters
• Knowledge of CPR
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer)

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience in a veterinary clinical setting
