Job summary

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg is looking for a Veterinary Technician to provide technical support in the ICU section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The role involves providing critical care nursing procedures, instructing veterinary students, and being on call for ICU coverage.

The successful candidate must be licensed as a Veterinary Technician in Virginia and have experience in critical care. Competitive starting salary at $45,000 per year, with the potential for overtime pay.

Qualifications

• Licensed or Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician.
• Experience in critical care nursing in a veterinary medical setting.
• Ability to place intravenous catheters.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the ICU.
• Perform critical care nursing procedures as directed by clinical faculty.
• Instruct senior veterinary students in ICU/Critical Care skills.

Skills

Licensed or Licensed eligible as a Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Experience in critical care nursing

Ability to place intravenous catheters

Knowledge of CPR

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
