Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking an SLS Print Process Intern for Summer 2027. You will work hands-on across hardware, software, and materials to push the performance of our SLS 3D printing platforms.

You will design experiments and perform root-cause analyses across mechanics, fluids, chemistry, optics, electronics, and thermodynamics, delivering faster, more reliable prints. Portfolio encouraged; onsite lunches and unlimited 3D printing available.

Qualifications

• Portfolio strongly encouraged.
• Experience with SLS 3D printing is a plus.
• Ability to work hands-on across disciplines.
• Familiarity with materials characterization is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Push the capabilities of our SLS 3D printing platforms.
• Drive root cause analysis across mechanics, fluids, software, chemistry, optics, electronics, thermodynamics, and user behavior.
• Design efficient experiments to reveal underlying behavior in a complex system of variables.
• Tackle multi-disciplinary problems and develop solutions that improve print performance.
