Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking a Build Team Intern for Summer 2027. You will assist in prototyping, building, and testing systems for next generation of 3D printers, fabricate simple mechanical parts, and run engineering tests while documenting results for engineers.

You are a hands-on maker with CAD familiarity, able to manage large data sets, and able to collaborate across teams. The role includes on-site lunches, unlimited 3D prints, and a vibrant intern community.

Qualifications

• Hands-on hardware experience and DIY mindset.
• Experience using a 3D printer.
• Familiar with CAD and fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and modifying prototypes of next generation 3D printers.
• Fabricate and/or machine simple mechanical parts.
• Set up and perform engineering tests.
• Document test results and report to engineers.
• Log hardware configurations and surface quality observations.
