Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Print Process Intern for Winter/Spring 2027 in Somerville, MA. You will push the capabilities of our SLS 3D printing platforms and work across hardware, software, and materials to improve print performance.

You will apply hands-on problem solving, CAD experience with SolidWorks, and basic Python, while designing DOE-style experiments and collaborating across disciplines to deliver faster, more reliable, and more accurate parts.

Qualifications

• Hands-on problem solving across multi-disciplinary domains.
• Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks) and Python scripting.
• Understanding materials properties and characterization.
• Ability to design DOE and custom tests.
• Willingness to collaborate across hardware, software and chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Push the capabilities of our SLS 3D printing platforms.
• Drive root cause analysis across mechanics, fluids, software, chemistry, optics, electronics, thermodynamics, and customer behavior.
• Design efficient experiments to uncover system behavior with multiple variables.
• Tackle multi-disciplinary problems and implement robust solutions.
• Develop and commercialize improvements that impact customer print performance.

The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization. This is a salaried role, so you will always be paid based on the assumed 40 hours per week as a full-time intern. This position does not offer housing or relocation assistance.The weekly pay range for this role is:$1,300—$1,650 USD
