Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a polysomnographic technologist at our Aurora Medical Center - Mount Pleasant location to administer and supervise sleep studies, including CPAP/BIPAP therapy and patient education. The role requires solid experience in sleep physiology, reliability in data capture, and strong teamwork with physicians and staff.

The position emphasizes precise scoring, patient safety, and high-quality report generation, while supporting the department with leadership and teaching

Qualifications

• Must meet AASM scoring standard with 80% proficiency.
• Proficient in sleep study scoring.
• Ability to analyze complex data and apply policy.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Selects and applies monitoring electrodes, bands, thermistors and other probes to patient bodies.
• Prepares PAP mask fittings for testing and therapy.
• Schedules and discusses test processes with patients and answers questions.
• Educates physicians and patients on sleep medicine.
• Scores sleep/wake stages and generates reports from data.
• Implements interventions including CPAP/BIPAP and oxygen administration.
• Performs PSG testing, SV titrations and other sleep studies.
• Sets up and scores home sleep tests.
• Maintains equipment, checks for artifacts and ensures data quality.
