Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician to perform basic and advanced sleep studies under supervision. You will prepare patient equipment, interview patients to identify sleep disorder issues, and ensure procedures are explained before testing.

You will monitor patients during testing, intervene when needed, assist with scoring sleep studies, generate reports, and maintain testing equipment. Strong attention to patient care and adherence to lab protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Completion of accredited polysomnography program leading to certification or AS degree; or completion of medical program leading to AS with state license.
• Pass the board exam and become credentialed (RPSGT) within 4 years of hire; requires STAR/ASTEP program.
• Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies under supervision.
• Prepares patient equipment for testing and interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues.
• Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes to resolve needs or equipment issues.
• Assists with scoring sleep studies and generating reports.
• Maintains, calibrates, repairs and documents equipment required for testing; reports needed repairs/replacements.
