Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Polysomnographic Tech to perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies under supervision. You will prepare patient equipment, interview patients about sleep disorders, and explain testing procedures before conducting testing per lab protocols.

You will monitor patients during studies, assist with scoring and reporting, and ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• Completion of an accredited polysomnography program leading to certification or AS degree with a state license or certification.
• Must pass board exam and become credentialed (RPSGT) within 4 years of hire.
• Advanced life support certifications may be required per department.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies under supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist.
• Prepares patient equipment for testing, interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and explain pre- and post-testing procedures.
• Performs and documents testing per lab protocols.
• Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
• Assists with scoring sleep studies and generating reports.
• Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing.
• Determines and reports needed repairs/replacements.

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Associate's Degree preferred

Polysomnography program certification or AS degree

STAR or ASTEP program completion

State license or certification (Medical Assistant, Nursing, Respiratory Care, etc.)
