Job summary

ID.me, Inc. is seeking a Director of Government Affairs, SLED, to lead public policy and advocacy for state, local, and education markets. You will engage governors’ offices, legislatures, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to advance policy on digital identity, privacy and fraud prevention, aligning with ID.me’s revenue goals.

The role requires deep knowledge of state policy processes, strong political instincts, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in state government affairs or public policy.
• Proven expertise in state legislative and regulatory processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior leadership.
• Excellent relationship-building and coalition-management across political lines.
• Ability to manage multiple states, priorities, and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement state government affairs strategies to support ID.me’s revenue objectives in key states.
• Represent ID.me before state legislatures, executive agencies, and regulatory authorities via direct lobbying and relationship management.
• Establish operational plans for the state government affairs function aligned with Government Affairs goals.
• Manage external state lobbying consultants ensuring alignment with policy priorities and compliance.
• Monitor and report on state-level legislation, regulations, and political trends impacting operations and growth.
• Translate policy developments into actionable business intelligence and recommendations for senior leadership and sales teams.
• Develop position papers, legislative testimony, and other written materials articulating the company’s stance.
• Build and maintain relationships with state officials, trade associations, industry coalitions, and influencers.
• Collaborate with Government Affairs and SLED sales teams to coalitions with industry partners.
