  • Guide the design and implementation of migration strategies from legacy databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Support AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) implementations, including full-load and change data capture (CDC) migration patterns.
  • Validate schema transformations, stored procedures, queries, indexes, and data conversion results.
  • Identify migration edge cases and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation and AI migration agents.
  • Develop and refine reusable migration templates, best practices, and validation frameworks.
  • Partner with client database administrators and application teams to understand source system constraints, dependencies, and migration risks.
  • Ensure successful production cutovers through rigorous reconciliation, data validation, and rollback planning.
  • Provide technical leadership on database performance tuning, migration readiness assessments, and post-migration stabilization activities.
What You’ll Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in database engineering, database administration, or database migration initiatives.
  • Deep expertise with one or more legacy database platforms, including:
    • IBM DB2
    • Sybase ASE

  • Proven experience leading heterogeneous database migrations from legacy platforms to PostgreSQL or cloud-native database services.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
  • Extensive knowledge of relational database architecture, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Experience troubleshooting database conversion issues involving stored procedures, triggers, functions, SQL dialect differences, and data type mappings.
  • Strong SQL development and data validation skills.
  • Experience executing large-scale database migration programs involving hundreds of tables and complex application dependencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with architects, engineers, DBAs, and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience migrating databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • AWS Solutions Architect certification or equivalent cloud architecture experience.
  • Familiarity with automated testing, data reconciliation, and validation frameworks.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments, including financial services.
