Job summary

Slalom seeks a Senior Database Migration Engineer for an AI-powered modernization platform. This remote role, aligned to EST hours, focuses on automating migrations of legacy databases (DB2, Sybase, Oracle) to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and cloud-native services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering, database administration, or database migration initiatives.
• Deep expertise with legacy databases (DB2, Sybase ASE, Oracle).
• Proven experience leading heterogeneous migrations to PostgreSQL or cloud-native services.
• Strong SQL development and data validation skills.
• Experience with AWS DMS and AWS SCT.

Responsibilities

• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex database migration issues involving DB2, Sybase, Oracle, and other legacy platforms.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for AI-driven schema conversions and reconciliation failures.
• Design and implement migration strategies from legacy databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Support AWS DMS and SCT implementations, including full-load and CDC patterns.
• Validate schema transformations, stored procedures, queries, indexes, and data conversion results.
• Identify migration edge cases and collaborate to enhance automation and AI migration agents.
• Develop reusable migration templates and validation frameworks.
• Collaborate with client DBAs and application teams to understand source system constraints and risks.
• Ensure successful production cutovers with data validation and rollback planning.
• Provide leadership on database performance tuning and post-migration stabilization.
