Slalom seeks a Senior Database Migration Engineer to drive AI-powered modernization efforts, migrating legacy databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL. You will set migration strategies, validate outcomes, and collaborate across cloud architects, AI engineers, and DBAs to ensure data integrity and scalable solutions.

The role is remote aligned to EST hours, project-based through 2/5/27 with potential extension.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering, administration, or migrations.
• Deep expertise with legacy database platforms (DB2, Sybase ASE, Oracle).
• Proven experience leading heterogeneous migrations to PostgreSQL or cloud-native databases.
• Strong SQL development and data validation skills.
• Experience with migration tooling and automation.

Aufgaben

• Lead troubleshooting of complex migrations involving DB2, Sybase, Oracle and other legacy platforms.
• Act as escalation point for AI-driven schema conversions and reconciliation failures.
• Design and implement migration strategies to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Support DMS and SCT implementations including full-load and CDC patterns.
• Validate schema transformations, procedures, queries, and data mappings.
• Identify edge cases and collaborate to enhance automation and AI agents.
• Develop reusable migration templates and validation frameworks.
• Collaborate with client DBAs and developers to understand constraints and risks.
• Oversee production cutovers with data validation and rollback planning.
• Provide leadership on performance tuning and post-migration stabilization.
