Job summary

Hankey Group in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Repossession Skip Trace Agent to locate delinquent borrowers and collateral using advanced skip tracing techniques. This on-site role requires sharp investigative skills, meticulous data verification, and the ability to work with recovery, collections, and legal teams to facilitate compliant repossession efforts.

You will use databases, public records, and investigative tools, maintain detailed case files, and communicate findings to recovery agents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in skip tracing, collections, repossession, or related field.
• Proficient with skip tracing tools such as TLOxp, LexisNexis, and IDI CORE.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong analytical and investigative abilities.

Responsibilities

• Use skip tracing databases and public records to locate borrowers and collateral.
• Verify and analyze information to confirm addresses, employers, and contacts.
• Maintain detailed case files with all efforts and findings.
• Communicate findings with repossession agents and coordinate recovery.
• Support recovery by working with internal departments to minimize losses.
• Follow FDCPA, GLBA, FCRA, and privacy guidelines.
• Perform outbound calls and emails to references when appropriate.
• Identify patterns to improve location strategies for hard-to-find accounts.
• Maintain productivity, compliance, and quality metrics.
• Assist in updating and maintaining skip tracing software tools.
