Job summary

DABS, Inc. is seeking a Skills Instructor to work with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them build practical skills for employment, volunteering, education, and community participation in various settings to gain independence.

You will provide person-centered instruction, support access to resources, take participants on community outings, document progress, and collaborate with a professional team.

Qualifications

• Empathy and commitment to helping others live with dignity and independence.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.
• Willingness to undergo a state and federal fingerprint background check.
• CPR Certification and a recent TB test (we can help you obtain both if needed).
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus—and training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered instruction through planned community activities.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, planning engaging activities, and strengthening their skill sets.
• Take individuals on community outings—whether for appointments, errands, or just to enjoy the day.
• Track and document progress, capturing accurate and concise case notes.
• Redirect inappropriate behaviors and facilitate positive resolutions to challenges.
• Work collaboratively with a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
