Job summary

Thai Summit America in Howell, MI is seeking a Press Maintenance Electrician to troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and optimize electrical, electro-mechanical, and electronic systems on stamping presses for maximum uptime in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing setting.

You will diagnose PLCs (Rockwell/AB, Siemens), adjust HMIs and drives, perform PMs, follow LOTO and NFPA 70E, and collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Production teams to keep lines running safely.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of manufacturing experience with electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and machine maintenance.
• Experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical principles; robotics, PLC and assisted automation, and ladder logic.
• Direct experience with mechanical/hydraulic press controls, safety blocks, light curtains, die protection sensors, and automation feeders.
• Ability to read complex industrial electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain large presses and press automation.
• Diagnose and reprogram PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo drives to maintain production flow.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machine/equipment.

Job description

Primary Job Function:

The Press Maintenance Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing all electrical, electromechanical, and electronic systems across stamping presses. This role ensures maximum equipment availability, safety compliance, and continuous production in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Press & Stamping Systems: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain large presses, including press automation, transfer systems, coil lines, un-coilers, and straighteners – Across multiple platforms/generations of equipment.
• Diagnose and reprogram PLCs (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo drives to maintain smooth production flow
• Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) on machine/equipment
• Maintain strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash safety standards (NFPA 70E), machine guarding, and OSHA/OHSA regulations.
• Provide support in supplying quality parts for customers

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3 – 5 years’ manufacturing experience with full range of operations, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and machine maintenance
• Experienced in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical principle, systems, troubleshooting and repair: robotics, PLC and assisted automation, mechanical handling systems, and understands ladder logic.
• Direct experience working with mechanical/hydraulic press controls, press safety blocks, light curtains, die protection sensors, and automation feeders.
• Ability to read and interpret complex industrial electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.

Training Requirements or Equivalents:

• New hire orientation

Health, Safety and Physical Demand Requirements:

• Frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting, climbing, carrying, pulling, griping, grasping, twisting, bending, stooping and reaching throughout the work day
• Hand and eye coordination
• Ability to sit stand and walk for extended periods of time (8 hours or more)
• Ability to use a phone and computer keyboard
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Passport
• Travel within the US and Canada up to 50%
