Wake Technical Community College is seeking part-time (adjunct) instructors to teach Skilled Trades, Construction, and Maintenance classes. Opportunities exist for day and evening sessions, with responsibilities including delivering instruction, keeping records, and preparing engaging materials.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have at least one year of related work or teaching experience, and are willing to obtain industry credentials.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year of work-related or teaching experience in a skilled trades area is preferred.
  • Willingness to earn and maintain industry-recognized credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grades and returns student work promptly.
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course.
  • Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction.
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
  • Modifies instructional strategies as needed to meet the diverse needs of student.
  • Maintains skills and certifications required for teaching by attending classes and training.
  • Verifies that lab activities are set up before classes and that all equipment and simulations are functional.
  • Helps students prepare for, and sometimes administers, certification tests.
