Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time (adjunct) instructors to teach Skilled Trades, Construction, and Maintenance classes.
Part-time instructors provide effective instruction for workforce development training in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis. Instructors are needed for day and evening positions.

- *Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
- *Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
- *Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- *Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
- *Grades and returns student work promptly
- *Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Modifies instructional strategies as needed to meet the diverse needs of student
- Maintains skills and certifications required for teaching by attending classes and training
- Verifies that lab activities are set up before classes and that all equipment and simulations are functional
- Helps students prepare for, and sometimes administers, certification tests

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of work-related or teaching experience in a skilled trades area such as carpentry, welding, HVAC, electrical, AutoCAD, contractor exam prep, landscaping, blueprint & schematics reading, OSHA 10 & 30, construction, masonry, plumbing, and apartment maintenance
- Willingness to earn and maintain industry-recognized credentials
Preferences
- Industry experience is a skilled trade area, and experience teaching post-secondary students
- Familiar with apprenticeship concepts
- Fluent in English or Spanish
- Familiarity/experience with skilled trades certifications such as NATE, NCCER, EPA, OSHA, NAA, ESCO, or other industry-recognized credentials
