Qualifications

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred, including obtaining specimens from neonate to geriatric patients.
• Current BLS certification upon hire or within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures, heelsticks, and fingersticks to obtain blood samples for testing.
• Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens.
• Processes and receives specimens into the laboratory, following protocol for specimen acceptability and rejection.
• Enters outpatient orders into Laboratory Information System.
• Collects chain of custody drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases as required.
• Assists with frozen sections and related clerical duties as needed.
