Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to join its hospital laboratory team. You will perform venipunctures, heelsticks, and fingersticks to obtain blood samples for testing, identify patients, and follow strict collection procedures.

You will enter outpatient orders into the Laboratory Information System, collect chain-of-custody drug screens, assist with frozen sections, and handle clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, phlebotomy training preferred.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred including venipuncture across age groups.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; basic medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures, heelsticks, and fingersticks to obtain blood samples.
• Identifies patients and follows procedures for specimen collection.
• Enters outpatient orders into Laboratory Information System.
• Collects chain of custody drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases.
• Assists with frozen sections and performs clerical duties as needed.
• Performs other related functions as assigned.
