Job summary

The Save Mart Companies is hiring a Journeyman Meat Cutter in Modesto, CA. The role meets daily production needs and maintains meat quality, handling cutting, wrapping, labeling, and merchandising while answering customer questions and fulfilling special requests.

Responsibilities include stocking and rotating inventory, reducing waste, and ensuring proper safety and sanitation in a fast-paced retail meat department. Strong customer focus preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to comprehend and follow specific instructions.
• Ability to perform simple and repetitive tasks.
• Ability to maintain work space appropriate to a given workload.

Responsibilities

• Locate appropriate meat portions in walk-in cooler and move to cutting area.
• Use knives and band saw to prepare specific cuts of meat.
• Price and label meat for wrapping and display.
• Arrange packages on display and remove out-of-date items.
• Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment; maintain hygiene.
• Operate equipment like pallets, grinders, and saws as required.
• Supervise Apprentice Meat Cutters as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
