Job summary

The Save Mart Companies is recruiting a Journeyman Meat Cutter for our Porterville, CA location. You will meet daily meat production needs, cut and prepare meat, and assist customers with special requests while maintaining high quality and freshness.

Responsibilities include pricing, labeling, stocking, sanitation, and rotating products to minimize waste. Prior meat dept experience is preferred; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work varied retail hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Prior meat department experience is preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle heavy items.

Responsibilities

• Locate and portion meat in the walk‑in freezer and move to cutting room.
• Cut and trim meat to customer specifications using tools.
• Package, weigh, label, and wrap meat products for display or sale.
• Maintain clean, sanitized work areas and equipment.
• Operate grinders, saws, and wrapping equipment as needed.
• Supervise Apprentice Meat Cutters when required.
