Job summary

The Save Mart Companies is seeking a Journeyman Meat Cutter to join the meat department. You will handle cutting, trimming, wrapping, weighing, and displaying meat products, while ensuring freshness and accurate pricing.

This role supports customer requests and maintains strict hygiene standards in a fast-paced retail setting. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, prior meat experience, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED) required.
• Prior Meat Department experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate department equipment.

Responsibilities

• Locate meat portions in freezer, move to cutting room and prepare cuts.
• Use knives and band saw to cut meat to order.
• Price and label meat, wrap and display packages.
• Rotate stock, remove out-of-date products, and maintain inventory control.
• Assist customers with special requests and product information.
• Clean and sanitize work area and tools; operate pallet jacks and scales.
• Supervise Apprentice Meat Cutters as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
