Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks an Equipment Operator to operate power construction equipment for excavation, lifting, moving and grading, ensuring safety and high quality.

You will work with multiple classes of equipment, follow OSHA regulations, read survey stakes for alignment, perform routine checks, and communicate clearly with site supervisors. Candidates should be 18+, have 3 years’ experience, and may need a CDL A or B.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
• May require a CDL, Class A or B.
• May require annual physical examination.
• May be necessary to pass certification prior to operating some equipment.
• Truck operators may be required to have valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
• Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate several types of power construction equipment to excavate, lift, move, and grade earth.
• Duties include reading survey stakes for alignment and grading.
• Follow OSHA regulations regarding excavation methods and practices and ensure safety precautions.
• Inspect equipment daily to ensure safe operation and perform basic maintenance.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and co-workers on site.
