Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies seeks an experienced Equipment Operator to operate a range of power construction equipment, including backhoes, loaders, trenchers and forklifts, to excavate, move and grade material on a major project.

Responsibilities include daily equipment inspections, maintenance logs, and coordinating with crew members to ensure safe, efficient operations on site. Must meet minimum qualifications and hold an OCI Equipment Qualification card for the unit operated.

Qualifications

• Minimum years of experience as an equipment operator.
• Must have working knowledge of operating limitations and safe work practices for each machine.
• A copy of the Medical Examiner's Certificate must be on file before operation begins.
• Commercial driver's license is required when equipment will be operated on public roads.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• OCI Equipment Qualification card endorsed for the unit being operated.

Responsibilities

• Operate gasoline, diesel, pneumatic or electric equipment to move material per project specifications.
• Assemble and operate compressors and pumps; control attachments and movements to lift, dump, or move material.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment and document results on daily log.
• Coordinate machine actions with crew signals and other activities.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment using trucks or related equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and stop work authority when needed.
