Job summary

ASTEC in Oregon seeks a skilled assembler to safely fit and join components for heavy and large mechanical products. You will follow specifications and schedules, ensure accurate documentation and safety compliance, and work with the production team under supervision.

Responsibilities include tool operation (hand, pneumatic, hydraulic), crane and forklift use, quality checks, and mentoring teammates while contributing to lean initiatives and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical concepts and procedures.
  • Ability to read tape measure and blueprints.
  • Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Computer literacy basics.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and assembles component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies.
  • Uses hand, pneumatic, hydraulic tools and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks.
  • Removes burrs and rough spots from parts.
  • Operates overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and materials.
  • Performs minor adjustments and setups under supervision.
  • Perform safety-compliant work and report problems.
  • May perform basic welding, washing, primer and painting.
  • Document materials and non-conformance parts.
  • Conduct checks and adjustments using gauges for proper assembly.
  • Train/mentor associates in duties, safety and lean activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership and participate in lean certifications.
