Job summary

Astec in Yankton, SD seeks an Assembly Technician to join our production team. You will assemble, fit, and join large mechanical components per specifications and the production schedule, using various tools and measuring devices.

You will work with teammates to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, up to 2 years of heavy equipment manufacturing experience, and the ability to read blueprints and a tape measure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 0-2 years heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.
• Ability to read/interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to read a tape measure and use measurement tools.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Basic computer skills and file handling.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and assembles component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies.
• Uses hand, pneumatic, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Removes burrs and smooths rough spots from parts.
• Operates overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and assemble large components.
• PErforms minor adjustments or setups to equipment under supervision.
• Adheres to safety standards and reports problems promptly.
• Performs other duties including basic welding, washing, primer and painting as needed.
