Job summary

Gallup is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer intern to join its San Francisco team for Summer 2027. You will work with experienced engineers to strengthen the performance and reliability of Gallup's global platform, gaining hands-on experience with observability, automation and incident response.

You will build dashboards and alerts, support automated workflows, and shadow incident response while writing scripts to reduce repetitive work.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in computer science, MIS or a related field required
• Basic knowledge of and/or experience with AWS or another cloud platform required
• Basic knowledge of and/or experience with Windows or Linux server administration, networking or infrastructure required
• Classroom or professional experience working with Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Docker, Amazon ECS, GitHub
• Exposure to monitoring or incident management tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana or PagerDuty preferred
• Enrollment at a college or university within an 80-mile radius of San Francisco, California, required
• Anticipated graduation between August 2027 and May 2028 preferred; will consider 2029 graduates
• Availability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027 required
• Commitment to working on-site at Gallup's San Francisco office Monday through Thursday with optional remote on Friday
• Eligibility to work in the United States required; not eligible for employment visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Help build and improve observability using tools like Dynatrace and PagerDuty to monitor applications running on AWS
• Create dashboards, alerts and metrics that give engineering teams real-time insight into application performance and system reliability
• Support automated alerting workflows that integrate with Slack
• Shadow and support incident response to learn how Gallup detects, resolves and prevents issues before they affect customers
• Write scripts and automation that reduce repetitive operational work
• Collaborate with a progressive technology team of site reliability engineers, DevOps engineers and software developers
