Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable infrastructure for Akamai Cloud. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, security, and performance across a global fleet.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in SRE or software engineering, Terraform and IaC tooling, and Linux-based deployments, plus excellent communication skills and mentoring abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in Site Reliability or Software Engineering with scalable distributed systems.
• Proficient with Terraform including modules, state, workspace design and policy enforcement.
• IaC tools such as Terraform, SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, Puppet in production.
• Design, develop, and deploy software/infrastructure at scale on Linux.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing, and operating critical services for reliability, scalability, and performance of our infrastructure.
• Designing and implementing observability solutions (monitoring, logging, alerting, telemetry).
• Driving reliability improvements through automation and reducing operational toil.
• Developing expertise in IaC systems and mentoring engineers on best practices.
• Collaborating with software, infrastructure, and platform teams to investigate production issues and implement long-term fixes.
• Participating in on-call rotation and leading incident response and post-incident reviews.
