Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. You will design, build, and operate scalable infrastructure, focusing on automation, IaC, and CI/CD for Akamai Cloud.

You will work across software, infrastructure, and platform teams to improve reliability and performance in a large distributed environment. You will mentor engineers, implement observability, and contribute to incident response while collaborating with cross-functional teams to keep services resilient and secure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in a Site Reliability or Software Engineering role with large-scale distributed systems.
• Terraform experience including module development, state management, workspace design, policy enforcement.
• Experience with IaC tools: Terraform, SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
• Experience with designing and deploying software and infrastructure at scale in Linux.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and operate critical services supporting reliability, scalability, and performance of infrastructure.
• Design and implement observability solutions including monitoring, logging, alerting, and telemetry capabilities.
• Drive reliability improvements through automation to reduce toil and increase resilience.
• Develop technical expertise in IaC systems and mentor engineers with best practices.
• Collaborate with software, infrastructure, and platform teams to resolve complex production issues and implement long-term fixes.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide leadership during incident response and post-incident improvements.
