Job summary

Thrive Market, a mission-driven online marketplace, is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team in Los Angeles. You will start by tackling cost-optimization backlogs, then expand into SLI/SLO operations and disaster recovery planning with guidance from staff engineers.

As part of a small team, you’ll gain broad exposure across the full SRE scope and help shape platform reliability well into 2027.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Kubernetes operations experience; EKS preferred.
• Strong AWS foundation including IAM setup; certifications a plus.
• Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure as code tools.
• Experience operating production systems, not just building them.
• Exposure to Python as growth area.
• Familiarity with SRE fundamentals: error budgets, SLIs/SLOs.
• Exposure to FinOps or cloud cost management.
• Ability to learn new tools and processes independently.
• Willingness to mentor others and work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of remaining cost optimization work.
• Monitor and respond to SLI/SLO alerts; investigate anomalies.
• Tune alert thresholds and windows; suppress overnight alerts.
• Operate and maintain Kubernetes/EKS infrastructure daily.
• Support infrastructure as code work with Terraform.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Collaborate with product engineering to optimize AI workloads on AWS Bedrock and Marketplace.
• Grow from ticket-based work to independently scoping and leading initiatives.
