Job summary

DeviantArt is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to design, scale, and maintain its high-throughput AWS infrastructure. You will drive automation, optimize database and search performance, and ensure maximum uptime with robust deployment pipelines.

Requirements include 10+ years in scale systems, strong Linux, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker experience, plus Python/Bash scripting. This role offers a challenging on-call rotation and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in scale systems (DevOps/Platform/SRE).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging across frontend to backend during outages.
• Excellent Linux command-line skills.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building Docker images and Helm charts.
• Proficient in Python and Bash for automation.
• Experience with sharded MySQL databases.
• Security compliance and DDoS mitigation knowledge.
• Proactive, cross-functional collaboration and clear communication.
• Bonus: GitOps tooling experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain auto-scaling AWS systems for high traffic.
• Maximize uptime and coordinate rapid incident response.
• Scale and troubleshoot sharded MySQL databases and Vespa search infrastructure.
• Build zero-downtime CI/CD pipelines (Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CodeBuild).
• Automate provisioning and configuration with robust testing and docs.
• Enforce security protocols and implement DDoS mitigation strategies.
• Monitor, optimize, and reduce cloud costs without sacrificing performance.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations.
