Job summary

DeviantArt is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to architect, scale, and maintain a high-throughput AWS infrastructure supporting 1.5B+ monthly visits. You will drive automation, optimize database performance, harden security, and ensure uptime through robust deployment pipelines and proactive reliability practices.

You will lead high-scale AWS infrastructure, incident response, and IoT-like CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in DevOps/Platform/SRE at scale.
• Excellent analytical skills with ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
• Exceptional command line Linux skills.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building Docker images and Helm charts.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash for scripting.
• Experience with sharded MySQL databases.
• Security compliance and DDoS mitigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain high-scale AWS infrastructure for large-scale traffic.
• Maximize platform uptime and handle incident response to outages.
• Scale and optimize sharded MySQL and search infrastructure for low latency.
• Build zero-downtime CI/CD pipelines (Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CodeBuild).
• Automate provisioning and configuration management with robust tests and docs.
• Enforce security protocols and manage patching; mitigate DDoS threats.
• Monitor AWS resource usage to minimize costs without sacrificing performance.
• Operate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with proactive issue detection.
