Job summary

PlayerZero is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance reliability, security, and visibility of production systems in Atlanta. You will combine hands-on AWS ops with automation, monitoring, and instrumentation to help engineers understand behavior and fix issues at the source.

Work includes reducing toil, operating distributed services and data stores like Kafka, Pulsar, and Valkey, and safely implementing infrastructure changes with IaC, CI/CD, and patching.

Qualifications

• Experience operating production services in SRE/production engineering roles.
• Hands-on AWS production experience across multiple accounts.
• Strong Linux, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience with Kafka, Pulsar, or Redis/Valkey in production.
• Programming or scripting skills for automation and instrumentation.
• Metrics, logs, distributed tracing, and alerting experience (OpenTelemetry preferred).
• Infra as code with Terraform; safe modifications and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Operate production infrastructure and data systems (AWS, Kafka, Pulsar, Valkey).
• Automate operational tasks and build repeatable workflows.
• Improve monitoring, instrumentation, dashboards, and alerts.
• Troubleshoot incidents across apps, infra, networks, and data stores.
• Make deployments safer via IaC, CI/CD, capacity planning, and rollback practices.
• Keep systems secure with patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Drive performance and resilience through bottleneck analysis and health indicators.
