Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our global SRE team. You will design, develop, and operate infrastructure, emphasizing reliability, security, and scalability for our cloud platform, and work with large-scale distributed systems.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, hands-on experience with Terraform and other IaC tools, and strong communication skills. On-call rotation and mentorship are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in Site Reliability or Software Engineering with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Terraform including module development, state management, workspace design, policy enforcement, and enterprise-scale IaC implementations.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar technologies.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale in Linux environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and operate critical services ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance of our infrastructure.
• Design and implement observability solutions (monitoring, logging, alerting, telemetry) to proactively detect and resolve issues.
• Drive reliability improvements through automation to reduce toil and increase resilience.
• Develop expertise in IaC systems and mentor engineers on best practices.
• Collaborate with software, infrastructure, and platform teams to investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term fixes.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide leadership during incident response and post-incident improvements.
