Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Kentucky, Hickman, is seeking a Manager I, Operations to oversee a single site/account and fleet operations. The role focuses on optimizing assets, managing budgets, and ensuring superior customer service while coordinating with drivers and support staff.

The position requires adaptability to various shifts, strong leadership, and ability to communicate with internal teams and customers to resolve issues and improve performance.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with 3–4 years of supervisory experience or a bachelor’s degree with 1–2 years supervisory experience
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends
• Willing to travel to account, customer and company events as applicable

Responsibilities

• Promote, manage, and maintain a positive work environment to improve efficiency, engagement, and retention
• Forecast freight volumes and power/equipment needs; adjust capacity for seamless coverage
• Train on and audit day-to-day processes; implement improvements
• Communicate with customers and teams to resolve issues during the day and on-call
• Manage fleet operations, customer service, safety, compliance, and driver retention
• Oversee financial performance: cost control, expense management, profitability; present data analyses
• Compile and review operational, financial, and service reports; monitor KPIs
• Ensure Safety and DOT training compliance; address safety needs for fleets/drivers
• Facilitate employee training and development; drive performance and advancement
• Serve as primary contact with customers to ensure exceptional service and safe operations
• Assist in creating annual budget and provide feedback on budget updates
