Job summary

Nooks is seeking an IT Support Specialist to be the frontline for day-to-day technical support during new-site buildouts. You will deploy workstations, cable networks, and set up systems, reporting to the VP of IT/Cyber as an individual contributor.

This role emphasizes hands-on site buildout over steady-state support, with roughly 25% travel to support new-site standups. You will grow towards more complex system administration under senior IT staff.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years IT support or system administration experience (DoD or cleared environment preferred).
• A DoD 8140.03/8570.01 Information Assurance Technical baseline certification — IAT Level I (e.g., CompTIA A+ or Network+) required at hire; IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) within six months.
• Foundational knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, networking concepts, and common IT troubleshooting practices.
• Familiarity with account management, permissions, patching, and basic system administration.
• Willingness and physical ability to perform site buildout work—lifting and setting up IT equipment, running cable, and working in confined spaces.
• Strong documentation skills and clear communication with users at all technical levels.
• Ability to travel roughly 25% to support new-site standups.

Responsibilities

• Stand up IT for new Nooks sites, deploying workstations, mounting monitors, cabling and peripherals.
• Rack and cable servers and network gear under senior direction and verify builds against baseline.
• Track hardware lifecycle from receiving to secure disposal in line with DoD standards.
