Job summary

Nooks is seeking a Cybersecurity Support Specialist to help maintain the security and compliance of classified and unclassified systems at a single site. You will report to the Site IT/Cyber Manager as an individual contributor with 2–5 years of hands-on practice in cybersecurity or system administration.

Responsibilities include vulnerability management, documentation upkeep (SSPs/POA&Ms/audit logs), and coordinating with IT Support for access control.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity or system administration.
• DoD 8140.03/8570.01 IAT II certification (or the ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Hands-on experience with DISA STIGs and tools such as SCAP Compliance Checker and STIG Viewer.
• Familiarity with access control, vulnerability management, system hardening, and Active Directory including GPO/OU structures.
• Foundational knowledge of Windows and Linux, networking, and IT troubleshooting.
• Associate's or Bachelor's in Cybersecurity/IT or equivalent experience.
• Strong documentation habits and clear cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Security Monitoring & Vulnerability Management: perform scans, patch verification, and config checks.
• Monitor security posture of classified/unclassified systems and apply DISA STIGs.
• Track findings and remediation to closure per DoD standards.
• Compliance Documentation & Support: maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, audit logs, and SOPs.
• Record evidence for audits and self-inspections; keep artifacts organized for assessors.
• User Support & Access Control: provide Tier 1 support; manage accounts and permissions with IT Support Specialist.
• Incident Response & Security Awareness: participate in IR and daily security awareness activities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with IT, security, and operations to stay compliant with DoD requirements.
