Job summary

Unison Industries, LLC, a GE Aerospace company, seeks a Flight Deck Leader to implement FLIGHT DECK fundamentals across the Tubes & Ducts shop. You will partner with site leadership to drive Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost improvements, coaching teams for rapid experiments and problem solving.

The role requires 5+ years leading FLIGHT DECK or Lean in manufacturing and a strong track record in continuous improvement. Relocation assistance is provided within the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 5 years in FLIGHT DECK or Lean transformation in Manufacturing/Operations, OR; a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 9 years of experience in driving FLIGHT DECK or Lean transformation in Manufacturing and/or Operations.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site Transformation Roadmap in manufacturing using KPI-based performance management.
  • Coach across all levels to progress FLIGHT DECK culture and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events using Pull, Kanban, Standard Work, 5S, and Single-Piece Flow.
  • Lead 3P, 7-ways and cell organization through cross-functional evaluation.
  • Develop competency in Industrial Engineering methods and FLIGHT DECK tools.
  • Partner with Operations to execute Capacity Utilization processes.
  • Improve labor and machine utilization by studying work methods and layouts.
  • Improve workflow by analyzing process flows and procedures.
  • Participate in Daily Management, Genba walks, and coaching cycles.
  • Coach teams with FUEL to drive rapid experiments and problem solving.
  • Support Site Compliance Leader.

Job Description Summary

Unison, a GE Aerospace company, is the leading provider of differentiated engine controls, accessories, and performance monitoring solutions in the Aerospace, Defense & Space segments. Serving both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers, Unison designs, manufactures and supplies the most advanced components and systems in the world. The FLIGHT DECK Leader is tasked with the implementation of FLIGHT DECK fundamentals and behaviors within GE Aerospace Tubes & Ducts shop. This role will report to the Site Leader. (FLIGHT DECK is GE Aerospace’s proprietary lean operating model This role will partner with the organizational leadership team and operate across all levels to drive FLIGHT DECK activities to impact Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, and act as a coach for the site to improve product and process flow that deliver lead time reductions and maximize cash flow.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead and execute the site Transformation Roadmap within manufacturing lines to achieve Operating goals using KPI-based performance management. Coach and Collaborate with all levels of the organization and functions of the site including Operators, Support Staff, and the Leadership Team to help progress our FLIGHT DECK Culture and drive Continuous Improvement. Be a Champion of Kaizen and Facilitate Kaizen Events to drive improvements using Pull, Kanban, Standard Work, 5S and Single-Piece Flow. Lead and coach 3P, 7-ways and cell organization through cross-functional evaluation and focused events Develop advanced competency in wide range of Industrial Engineering Methods and FLIGHT DECK tools and coach associates in the use and implementation of FLIGHT DECK fundamentals. Partner, develop and execute standard Capacity Utilization process in partnership with the local Operations, Lean and Industrial Engineering Leaders. Improves labor and machine utilization by studying work methods, layout and equipment modifications, designing new methods and recommending job restructuring. Improves workflow by studying process flow charts, recommending modifications in workflow and workstations, and developing new procedures. Participate in the site Operating Cadences (ex: Daily Management, WOR, MOR) including daily management meetings, Genba walks and FUEL coaching cycles. Coach teams using the FUEL coaching process to drive daily Rapid Experiments and Problem Solving in a systematic way. This role will also support as the Site Compliance Leader

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in driving FLIGHT DECK or Lean transformation in Manufacturing and/or Operations, OR; a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 9 years of experience in driving FLIGHT DECK or Lean transformation in Manufacturing and/or Operations.

Desired Characteristics

At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing developing lean or continuous improvement strategies). Knowledge of and experience applying lean in shop floor situations (standardized work, material & information flows, level production and pull systems). Able to influence others – must be able to inform, convince, and persuade other using lean to drive sustainable results. Highly credible. Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a senior leader perspective and leverage lean to drive improvement.
