Job summary

John Moriarty & Associates is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent in the Washington DC Metro area. The role supports the Superintendent in directing field forces to ensure plans, specifications, schedule, and quality are met on site.

The candidate should read and interpret plans and drawings, write reports, and present information effectively. 4-year degree preferred, with 4–6 years of construction experience, and a strong knowledge of building codes and Excel/Smartsheet scheduling.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree preferred in Building Construction or relevant subject.
• 4-6 years of experience in Construction is preferred.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of building codes, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Assist field personnel in site-specific responsibilities.
• Assist field personnel in quality control inspections and documentation.
• Perform construction material takeoffs and prepare estimates for future needs.
• Understand and follow the company/project safety plan.
• Assist with subcontractor safety training and compliance.
• Review and coordinate subcontractor deliverables for project execution.
• Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Schedule manpower and material deliveries with subcontractors.
• Attend all staff and foreman's meetings.
• Assist Area and Lead Superintendents in daily activities.
• Coach and mentor Field Engineers.
