Job summary

Richmond City Public Schools Technology Services seeks a Student Information Application Administrator to coordinate data requests, ensure data loads to vendors, and support teachers toward student achievement. The role bridges academic and technical teams, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.

The incumbent will oversee the SIS service desk, monitor systems, and collaborate with instruction and vendors to maintain secure, accurate student data and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent blend of relevant academic training and substantial professional experience equal to a four-year post-secondary degree.
• At least three years supporting and managing student and learning management applications, with prior experience in PowerSchool SIS preferred.
• At least three years serving as a project administrator or lead within a related discipline preferred.
• At least three years of information systems background focusing on application management and cross-functional coordination with technical personnel.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience with student and instructional information systems, with preferred experience using and supporting PowerSchool SIS.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional or related field project leader/administrator experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance and supervision to the SIS Service Desk agents as well as the technical trainer.
• Serves as the liaison between academic and technical areas.
• Monitors assigned systems to ensure they are operating normally and take action when necessary to meet defined SLA’s and keep the systems stable.
• Coordinates activities with business process owners and acts as a liaison with instruction and technical staff.
• Performs goal management, succession planning, and other modules as added (but not limited to) system.
• Works with data analysts and vendors to ensure accurate content and system configuration.
• Supports the technical direction of systems while ensuring integration with the technical direction of other supported platform(s).
• Performs internal and external relationship management, including vendors, employees/management, and user-group participation.
• Maintains administrative security, develops ad hoc queries, and creates standard reports.
• Performs specialized SIS administrative tasks including managing end-of-year rollover processes, preparing grading and reporting periods, running GPA and honor roll calculations for secondary schools, importing student and staff data, and providing Tier II user support to resolve complex system and end-user issues.
• Provides day-to-day support for releasing changes, patches, and necessary updates to the operating systems, databases, and applications.
• Coordinates with various operations teams to manage systems backups, monitoring, performance, and 24x7 alert actions.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates with school based end users, use of SIS, and other systems.
• Holds monthly meetings with school based and/or district office teams to ensure data integrity of student and teacher data for state and federal reporting purposes.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
