Job summary

State University of New York at Buffalo is seeking a Simulation Technician to support the Behling Human Simulation Center and the Margaret L. Wendt Clinical Competency Center.

You will set up and run simulation sessions, program simulators, and troubleshoot equipment for medical students, residents, and faculty. The role requires a bachelor’s in a medical or technical field (or equivalent) and proficiency with hardware, Windows, AV systems, and networked devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a medical or technological field or equivalent education/experience.
• EMT, paramedic, or equivalent clinical certification accepted in place of the degree.
• Proficiency with computer hardware and Windows software.
• Familiarity with networked computers and audiovisual equipment.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run simulation sessions for medical students, residents, and faculty using high-fidelity simulators and audiovisual systems.
• Program simulators with faculty to match learning goals.
• Troubleshoot simulator, computer, network, and audiovisual issues in real time during sessions.
• Maintain and repair simulators and equipment; build educational aids like task trainer pads.
• Keep simulation rooms clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
• Teach faculty and facilitators to operate simulators and audiovisual systems.
• Support the centers’ computers and networked devices with Office of Medical Computing.
